COACHING

FULL SQUADS

Full squads are the next progression from Midi squads and involve 2 x 1 hour sessions per week. Full squads are for those aged between 10 - 18 years old and are suitable for any standard. Players will be put in a group with people their own age and standard and will be kept with friends if desired. The teaching on full court squads will depend on the level and experience of the players involved - beginner squads will be taught forehand, backhand, serve & volley while more advanced squads will be helped to improve their shots as well as learning the tactical elements of playing games and matches.

The full court and normal tennis balls are used for these squads although squads who have recently progressed from Midi court may continue to use a midi tennis ball but on the full court for a short period.

Full squads take place at various times throughout the week from Monday - Friday starting from 4.30. All of the full squads then join together on a Saturday afternoon (12.00am - 1.00pm) for matchplay practice where they will have the chance to practice what they have been learning during the week through fun games and friendly matches.

DAYS & TIMES

All of our squads run for a 10 week block 3 times a year (Sept-Dec, Jan-April & April - June). There is normally a half term break during the 1st and 2nd terms where friendly matches either internal between squads or external against another local club will be arranged for players in full cquads. For the dates of the current or next term please take a look at the calendar.

Children on full squads get 2 x 1 hour sessions per week - the 1st of these takes place during the week (click here for days & times) and then all of the children join together for an optional session on Saturday afternoon from 11.00am - 12.00pm.

COST

The costs below are for a 10 week session which will (if the calendar year allows for it) include a week for half term where there will be a free day of team matchplay & fun games for Midi Squads. RECOMMENDED RACKETS

The best rackets for full court squads are either 26" or full size 27" rackets depending on height, age and standard. If needed these can be borrowed for the 1st week or 2 and then can be bought at the Club. Click here for more details.
